Depression
Low mood, and dislike of physical activity can affect a person’s thoughts, behavior, tendencies, feelings, and feelings of well-being. A depressed mood is a normal temporary reaction to life events
(for short or long period), such as the loss of a loved one, divorce, or other complicated situations of life. It is also a symptom of certain physical illnesses and a side effect of certain medications and medical treatments. Depressed mood can also be a symptom of certain mood disorders such as major depressive disorder
Depression symptoms
.Depressed mood and loss of interest
Decreased interest in pleasure and daily activities. The person experiences one or more of the following emotions : sadness, sense emptiness, despair, indifference, anxiety, crying, pessimism etc.At the point where the person can no longer participates in social activities, and becomes enclave on him/ herself.
.Sleep – hypersomnia:
The person may sleep excessively
– insomnia:
The person may not have enough sleep.
.Feelings of guilt or worthlessness
Have a feeling of guilt above normal or delusional.
These feelings of guilt and uselessness are often inappropriate .
Loss of self esteem the person begin to feel shame and humiliation( which are not even real ).
.Loss of energy:
Lack of strength, Feeling lazy,
and dealing with prolonged fatigue even small tasks become more tiring.
.Decreased concentration:
Having difficulty remembering things, have trouble thinking , concentrating or paying attention.
.Change in eating, appetite, or weight :
Rapid weight loss or weight gain .Depression can either change your appetite to the point where feel so hungry all the time or simply you have no appetite.
.Motor activity
People with depression may be too active or very lethargic. They can talk more softly or speak less than usual. Relatives of depressed people may notice inappropriate actions .
.Thoughts of death and suicide
A depressed person may have recourse to death, or is often interested in suicide. The person can develop a specific plan, how, when and where. The depressed person wish to stop the emotional pain ,in so many cases
That Person thinks that may be the punishment to those who make him/her suffering.
Causes
1. Life Events
Life events such as bereavement, neglect, mental abuse, physical abuse, sexual abuse
Death of loved one, divorce (In this situation a person is affected for long term even for entire life)
2. Other complicated situations or changes
There so many other complicated situations or changes in life which cause depression ,having a new child , menopause, financial difficulties, unemployment, stress from work, Education difficulties , family issues, living conditions,bullying and harassment , natural disasters, social isolation, rape, relationship troubles, jealousy
social rejection,racism ,social pressure etc…
3.certain physical illnesses
A- (Non-psychiatric illnesses)
There are many different types of physical illness and each presents its own challenges
Here are some of physical illness may be the cause depression :Chronic pain diabetes,cancer, asthma multiple sclerosis,arthritis ,Parkinson’s disease, stroke ,and Injury Related illness, Cushing’s syndrome
B- Psychiatric syndromes
Here are some of psychiatric syndromes which may cause depression:Bipolar disorder,dysthymia, major depressive episode,seasonal affective disorder, posttraumatic stress disorder, trauma,Mood disorder,
borderline personality disorder, adjustment disorder with depressed mood etc…

interferon therapy, beta-blockers, isotretinoin, contraceptives,cardiac agents, anticonvulsants, antimigraine drugs, antipsychotics, and hormonal agents ( gonadotropin-releasing hormone agonist).

Ask for help from your relatives and friends, do not hesitate to tell them about your mental health issues , because social support is very important.

In a support group, members provide each other with various types of help, usually nonprofessional and non material, for a particular shared, usually burdensome, characteristic. Members with the same issues can come together for sharing coping strategies, to feel more empowered and for a sense of community. The help may take the form of providing and evaluating relevant information, relating personal experiences, listening to and accepting others’ experiences, providing sympathetic understanding and establishing social networks. A support group may also work to inform the public or engage in advocacy.
Exercise
Exercise releases dopamine, which floods the brain with positive emotions. Dopamine can help fight stress, anxiety and depression. It can be difficult to force yourself to exercise, but once you go, you should feel good. Start and you will see how therapeutic it can be!
